The bottom line is that all South Africans or at least Capetonians should spend a Sunday at Mzoli’s at least once, I can now finally tick Mzoli’s off my list (with a return date in mind of course). For me it was not anything that I expected, you don’t actually buy anything from Mzoli’s, they just provide the venue! What you do is go into the surrounding houses and buy your drinks and meat. This felt a little weird, but looking back, it was totally cool and added to the whole experience.
The place is one of the most festive places I have ever been to. And no matter the gender, race or even sexuality, everyone is just there to have a good time! I myself spent a good half an hour in deep discussion with an Italian telling me that South Africa was the best country in the world J
As the Sun begun to set the streets themselves sprung to life and became a massive dance floor as residents from all around came to join the party! It having been a long day, we all decided to pile into a mini bus and head back to the mother city. It was a great experience and I definitely will be back there soon.
We all agreed that Mzoli’s got a “two thumbs up”.
